Behavioural-based interview

A behavioural-based interview is an interview technique used in the hiring process to assess a candidate's past behaviour and performance in specific situations. It focuses on understanding how a candidate has approached challenges, handled responsibilities, and interacted with others in the past as an indicator of their future performance. The interviewer asks questions that prompt the candidate to provide examples of specific situations they have faced, the actions they took, and the outcomes they achieved. This approach helps employers gauge the candidate's skills, abilities, and suitability for the role based on real-life experiences.

Example:
During a behavioural-based interview for a customer service position, the interviewer might ask the candidate to describe a time when they had to deal with an angry customer. The candidate would then share a specific example from their past, explaining the situation, the actions they took to address the customer's concerns, and the positive outcome they achieved. This allows the interviewer to assess the candidate's problem-solving skills, ability to handle difficult situations, and their customer service approach based on their actual experiences.
