Full-time equivalent (FTE) is a unit used to measure an employee's workload, representing the amount of work performed by one full-time employee. FTE can be used to calculate a company's total workforce or to compare the workload of part-time and full-time employees.
Example
A company has 10 full-time employees who work 40 hours per week and 20 part-time employees who work 20 hours per week. The total FTE for this workforce is 18 (10 FTE from full-time employees plus 8 FTE from part-time employees).
